Conference Welcome Letter

Dear Friends, Colleagues & Partners,

Welcome to the 26th Annual Caribbean Association of Otolaryngologists (CAO) Conference and to Barbados, the land of sea, sun and fun. Those of you who can, will remember that the very first Conference of our Association was held for the first time the year after our Association formed in Barbados back in 1992. It is an awesome privilege to once again host our Scientific meeting here in Barbados since our last hosting in 2004. We are also blessed and honoured to still have some of our founding members share this event with us.

Over the years we have seen our Association grow steadily form several well-known members to membership which has now breeched the confines our Caribbean shores to reach across the Atlantic and beyond. As we reflect on the good old days, we must be willing to embrace what the future holds for us in our discipline, and from our many perspectives I daresay, that future looks exciting. Our theme this year is “Otolaryngology in the Caribbean – current trends & future concepts”.

As your hosts we look forward to showing you not only excellence in our academic package with diverse, interesting topics but also giving you an awesome experience in Bajan hospitality. We look forward to meeting and greeting each one of you, renewing friendships and making many more new ones during the conference. I encourage those of you who are not too pressed to return to your homes and practises, to stay on a few days after the conference and enjoy what Barbados has to offer. I am sure you will not leave without fond memories and hopefully with the urge to return.

The organising committee would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you, including our sponsors, for your participation in making this what is hoped to be, with the blessings of God, an enjoyable, informative and successful conference.

Mr. J. Marquis Dowell F.R.C.S. (Ed)
Host, Vice-President CAO, President BAO HNS
